Little Bear Cake Company is a small home-based bakery in Melton Mowbray, founded by me, Emma, in the spring of 2020. Self-taught, the demand for bespoke cakes from friends and family finally prompted me to take the plunge and start Little Bear Cake Company. My background is in early years and I found that a lovely group of parents at the school I worked at started requesting personalised cakes, so after my maternity leave, I decided to start on my baking adventure. I named the cake company after my son, only a year old when I started the business, whose name means “Brave Little Bear.” In 2022 the demand for beautiful local wedding cakes went through the roof and I began building a true wedding portfolio as well as perfecting my flavours in 2023 by supplying the beautiful Barnsdale Gardens in Rutland with cakes.
I pride myself on incredible flavours and wherever possible forage for jam ingredients and use local products such as eggs and fruits from local farm shops. My favourite places to source incredible ingredients are Wymeswold fruit farm in the warmer months and Fernley's every week for milk & eggs. My long-suffering husband and my little baby girl regularly has quiet evenings drowned out by the cake mixer whirring and being forced into dicing strawberries.

I’ve made some lovely links to other businesses in Melton and love providing creations for clients all over Leicestershire and Rutland. I put so much love and effort into every order, it’s like a little bit of me going out the door. I’m so lucky to be able to live my little dream and share the efforts of my labours with you.
